World Premiere of O Traurigkeit, o Herzele, for organ, a 2min work as part of the Little Organ Book project.
In this concert by one of Kent’s leading organists Paul Stubbings, the incomparable atmosphere of St Clement’s provides the backdrop for some of the sublime music Bach wrote for specific seasons of the year.
Alongside masterpieces of their genre taken from the Clavier-Űbung and The Great Eighteen, we also hear chorale preludes from the Little Organ Book together with Bach’s wonderfully adventurous but seldom performed Canonic Variations on “Vom Himmel hoch da komm’ ich her”, BWV 769. The concert also features contributions by celebrated composers of our own day.
