A new commission from leading Australian ensemble Taikoz Synergy for Japanese taiko drums, saxophones, bass clarinet and synthesizers.
Songs and Grooves switches between repeated groove patterns over which instruments converse and synthesizers explore harmonies and textures, and songs, which are wordless flowing melodies often for saxophones and bass clarinet. All of the songs and grooves present different facets of this unique ensemble and differing rhythmic, textural and melodic worlds for the audience to become absorbed in.
I can’t wait to head to Australia for these performances after the delay of the pandemic and some close collaboration with the fantastic musicians involved.
