Commissioned by The City of London Sinfonia (CLS) for its 2015/16 season ‘RE:Imagine, Toccata and Fugue in D Minor is an arrangement for chamber orchestra of Bach’s iconic work.

Music in the Round: A Midwinter Night's Dream

One of the Allegro Orchestra’s specialties is performing works for small or chamber orchestra.  This performance features two major works for orchestra, adapted for chamber orchestra: Mendelssohn’s Overture to Midsummer NIght’s Dream, and Smetana’s Overture to the Bartered Bride.

In addition Allegro will be presenting a unique adaptational of JS Bach’s famous Toccata and Fugue in D minor.

As part of our commitment to featuring women composers we will present Dorian Dance by Tsang Lua-Yan.

Perhaps the highlight will be Michael Torke’s Adjustable Wrench, a remarkably complicated and energetic  work for chamber orchestra.
